Washington - “How to Tame a Lion”
One of the ways that this song is really playful that I often love is when there’s an obvious rhyme to finish a line, and they just don’t say it. Of course, there’s a certain amount that’s enough, like once or twice in a song. I think Washington does it quite a few more times in this song.
I can’t help but laugh when I hear pop-sounding songs focusing on historical figures, like some indie song I heard recently called, “I still love you, Abraham Lincoln.” I have to love that they brought up the dysfunctional marriage of Arthur Miller and Marilyn Monroe. I don’t think of that too often—in fact, it feels strange that I even knew about it.
